The independently owned WIN Waste Innovations Ridge facility provides dependable, environmentally safe disposal of waste wood, scrap tires and landfill gas, while generating clean electricity for sale to the local utility. Designed, built and operated by WIN Waste Innovations, WIN Waste Innovations Ridge has an electric generating capacity of 50 MW and processes up to 300,000 tons of waste wood, 30,000 tons of scrap tires and 500,000 Mcf of landfill gas each year into enough clean energy to power 28,000 Florida homes and businesses as well as its own operations.
WIN Waste Innovations Ridge is an essential component of Florida's integrated approach to solid waste management. Customers of the disposal facility benefit from the conservation of local landfill space in a service area stretching from Dade County to as far north as Jacksonville. Suppliers include private individuals, privately owned companies, publicly held companies, municipal- and county-owned recycling facilities, landfills and transfer stations. In addition to providing a sustainable alternative to current disposal methods for waste wood and scrap tires, WIN Waste Innovations Ridge collects landfill gas for power generation from an adjacent municipal landfill.
